The student, wearing a green shirt and khaki shorts, is trying to prevent teachers from undressing him in the presence of other classmates.
One of the teachers in a Fante dialect asked the student to stop being stubborn by clinging to his shorts and instead allowed the (teachers) to take off their shorts.
When the boy refused, the teacher asked for a knife that he used to break the shorts and leave the boy in shorts.
When contacted with Martinentertainment.com, the father of the victim, Mr. John Mensah, said that the child’s mother informed him about the incident two weeks ago.
He said that his son (name withheld) is a General Arts student and a Prefect Entertainment Assistant from the Makessim Higher Technical School.
He said that on the day the incident occurred, the school was doing its sports activities and at the same time was preparing for a gospel rock show.
Mr. Mensah said that when the teachers saw his son at school, they called him and asked him why he was wearing khaki shorts, and then they asked his son to go home and change his shorts.
He explained that his son, however, promised the teachers that he would go home to change after the entertainment show, which the teachers agreed to.
He told Martinoentertainment.Com that after the sports activities, the teachers saw his son again in khaki shorts and proceeded to interrogate him.
According to Mr. Mensah, his son told (the teachers) that he stays in Baafikrom, a suburb of Mankessim which is about 20 minutes drive from the school, so he could not go home immediately to change it and not I would wear the same shorts to school the next day.
That, he said, angered the teachers and that led to their action.
According to Mr. Mensah, in the process of using the knife to tear off the shorts, his son suffered some cuts.
Mr. Mensah told Martinoentertainment. When he was informed of the incident, he called the assistant principal of the school, who assured him that he would inform the principal about the problem.
But the deputy director could not contact him as promised until he (Mr. Mensah) called after three days to find out how far the problem had come.
He said that the deputy director told him that he had informed the director, who in turn had assured him that the problem would be investigated.
Mr. Mensah, however, said he had not reported the incident to the police.
In an interview, the school principal, Mr. Robert Eghan, confirmed the incident and said the problem was before the school’s disciplinary committee.
He said the incident took place on Wednesday 23 May 2018.
According to him, the student was warned before not wearing the uniform at school, but had refused to obey.
He said that he (the student) had modified the prescribed uniform that the school allows his students to wear, making it too small for him.
